Amazon Synopsis: It is time. It is time to free our voice. To speak is a revolution. For too long, through the most intimate acts of erasure, women have been silenced. Now, women everywhere are breaking through the limits placed on us by family, society, and tradition. To find our voices. To make space for ourselves in this world. Now is the moment to reclaim what was once lost, stolen, forsaken, or abandoned. I Am Yours is about my fight to protect and free my voice from those who have sought to silence me, for the sake of creating a world where all voices are welcome and respected. Because the voice, without intimacy, will atrophy. We're in this together. You are mine, and I am yours.
Reema Zaman is someone that has been through a lot in her life and created a shared memoir about her experiences that influenced her into the woman she is today. I was able to read I Am Yours to learn about Zaman and see what her life was like from a young age. I Am Yours tells a story that connects to the reader through .a voice of freedom and bravery.
I Am Yours speaks about family, trauma, tradition and the life of Reema Zaman. The story is told through the experiences of a lifespan and speaks through a certain tone. The writer focused on speaking on growth, love, grief, and abuse. I was able to feel what Zaman went through in different experiences and her responses to the different experiences could relate to many readers. I ended up reading this book quickly because of the story that was being told. She was very descriptive in her writing and was able to share her experiences in a detailed book of her own.
As I turned the pages, I learned about Zaman as a person, a child, and her upbringing. I was asked to read this book for exchange of the novel and I am honored to have read such a captivating memoir. I enjoyed I Am Yours and thought it was a creative way to write a memoir. My favorite aspects of this book would be the uplifting of womanhood and the rising from the ashes aspect from grief struck experiences. I think that the book can resonate with many readers and can teach life lessons about rising above, reflection and acknowledging the past, present and the now.
